Tomas Kaberle Update: Is Kaberle Going To Remain a Toronto Maple Leaf?

TSN’s Darren Dreger is reporting that, while Brian Burke has been fielding offers for veteran defenseman Tomas Kaberle, that, thus far, the offers have been underwhelming.

"If these offers are all we get...he's staying put," Burke told TSN on Sunday morning.

With no legitimate offers on the table and with just over twelve hours to go before Kaberle’s no-trade clause is re-instated, it appears as if, unless offers improve dramatically, that Kaberle will remain a Maple Leaf.

If Kaberle does remain a Leaf, one has to think that Burke will be forced into looking at other trade options, including moving the likes of Francois Beauchemin or Luke Schenn for that coveted top-six, scoring forward.

If Burke was able to turn Beauchemin or Schenn into a top-six forward you gotta believe most Leaf fans would be thrilled, especially when you consider Burke could get his top-six and keep Kaberle.

Trading Schenn would not be popular with the Leafs Nation, but with so many good/young defensemen in the Leafs’ system (Carl Gunnarsson, Keith Aulie, Jesse Blacker, Juraj Mikus, Korbinian Holzer, etc.), one has to believe that Schenn could ...
