NHL Rumors: August 3

This morning there have been plenty of rumours going around. Let's just get to them.

Tyler Seguin has apparently signed a three year entry level contract with the Boston Bruins for $800,000 with bonuses. It'll be interesting to see if the Bruins send him back to the OHL.

The St. Louis Blues have locked up Erik Johnson to a two year $5.2 million extension. His cap hit will be $2.6 million for both years. This is an important signing as they need to keep their young players in order to build the team properly.

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Mike Modano to a one year contract. He will probably be a third liner, but for the Red Wings (or any team) he is a solid third liner.

The New Jersey Devils and Zach Parise have not yet discussed a contract extension. Lou Lamoriello says he wants to get it done before Parise becomes a free agent. Personally I think this is very important, the Devils need to lock up Parise. This is clearly being held up by the Kovalchuk fiasco.
