Flyers Bolster Blueline with Braydon Coburn and Andrej Meszaros

The Philadelphia Flyers addressed their blueline early on Free Agent Day by re-signing RFA Braydon Coburn to a two year deal, with a cap hit of $3.2 million per year.

In another move that might surprise many, Philadelphia also dealt out a second round draft pick to Tampa Bay to acquire Andrej Meszaros. Meszaros has had an up and down career, but at his best, is a solid physical presence with offensive upside.  However, Meszaros comes with a healthy price tag, as the 25 year old carries a $4 million cap hit until the end of the 2013-14 season.

Before the start of the free agency period, Philadelphia had already resigned goalie Michael Leighton, ending speculation that the Flyers would pursue one of the high ticket goaltenders available .

The acquisition of Meszaros and signing of Coburn leave the Flyers with some cap issues, as they currently have 19 players under contract with a cap hit of $57.36 million.
