Detroit Red Wings Unsung Hero: Brad Stuart Has Become One of the Wings’ Best

On February 28, 2008, after Brad Stuart became a Detroit Red Wing, I can honestly say I did not care for, nor did I look deep into, the trade I now think was one of the greatest ones Ken Holland has ever made.

But I can also honestly say I quickly shut up later that year when Brad Stuart was one of the key factors in Detroit hoisting its second Stanley Cup of the new millennium.

When talking about Detroit great players of today, many seem to overlook Brad Stuart.

Names like Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, Johan Franzen and Todd Bertuzzi come up when speaking about the great forwards on the Red Wings. And when talking about the defense, Nicklas Lidstrom, Brian Rafalski and Niklas Kronwall seem to come up in the same breath.

Where is Brad Stuart during all of this?

Stuart has grown on me, and I am sure I can speak for the rest of Hockeytown when I say he has grown on you as well, since he came over to the Red Wings.

Never known as much of an offensive threat, Brad Stuart is quietly having a great offensive year so far.
