Andrew Ladd Dealt To Atlanta For 2nd Round Pick and Defenseman

TSN has reported that Andrew Ladd has been dealt to the Atlanta Thrashers for a 2011 second round draft pick and defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy.

The final piece of the salary cap puzzle may have now been moved, as Ladd will join his former teammates Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager and Brent Sopel in Atlanta.

On June 23 the Blackhawks shipped the trio, along with Akim Aliu, to the Thrashers for draft picks Jeremy Morin and Marty Reasoner.

The move is speculated to free up another $1.8 million. 

While the Hawks will now start focusing on how to fill their roster, Vishnevskiy may be a candidate for the third line pairing next season.

While having been traded from Dallas during last season, the 22-year-old Russian has the potential to be a true contributor during special teams.

Showing true upside for offensive production, the Hawks could use another quarterback during the power play, which at times struggled last season.

The downfall?

Vishnevskiy lacks size for a defenseman and at times is very inconsistent.
