Suns’ Owner Exploits Hot Topic of Immigration to Promote Team

ESPN’s J.A. Adande posted an article today praising Phoenix Suns’ owner Robert Sarver for speaking out against the illegal immigration legislation in Arizona.

Sarver is using the hot topic of immigration in Arizona to promote his team and should be absolutely ashamed of himself.

Let me be really clear on one thing. I have no problem with Mexican immigrants who come to the United States and become citizens by following the set process. 

I fully encourage NBA teams in Hispanic cities like Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami and San Antonio to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by wearing Spanish jerseys. I think this a great celebration of the communities that support these franchises. Legal immigrants and their herritage should be recognized on days like today.

What I do have a problem with is the sector of Mexican immigrants who come to the United States illegally. These people put a strain on our school systems and our economy because they reap benefits of U.S. citizenship without making a contribution.
