New York to Pursue Joe Johnson First

Reports say the New York Knicks will offer Joe Johnson a max contract right after the NBA free agency period starts July 1st.

Johnson could entice another free agent like LeBron James or Chris Bosh to the Knicks. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, he is willing to take less money to make room for maybe two more max free agents.

Mike D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh also look to persuade Amar'e Stoudemire by heavily recruiting Johnson. Both will be in Los Angeles for teams to meet with them.

Joe Johnson will fill the starting shooting guard spot and hopefully bring a few more free agents to New York.

He still could be a dangerous scorer under Mike D'Antoni and the Knicks. He played for him while both were with the Suns, so there is another possible reason for Johnson to be a Knickerbocker.

I expect Joe Johnson to be in a New York Knicks uniform next season and bring along a few others with him to Madison Square Garden.
