NBA Owners to Discuss Plan to Put Corporate Logos on Jerseys

NBA owners are reportedly expected to discuss a plan to put corporate logos on jerseys at Sunday's meeting during the All-Star break in Toronto.

ESPN.com's Darren Rovell and Brian Windhorst reported on the matter Thursday, indicating the Association's planning committee desires feedback from teams prior to the Board of Governors meeting in April.

The proposal ideally would allow smaller-market teams to gain revenue, with 50 percent of the ad money going to the individual teams and the other half going to a shared NBA pot. The individual advertising deals would run for a maximum of three years and begin in the 2017-18 season.

In October, the league cleared car company Kia to brand its logo onto the upcoming NBA All-Star Game jerseys, per the Wall Street Journal (via Rovell).



If the teams reject the league's proposal for corporate logos, the matter won't make the agenda for April's meeting.
