Shane Doan Breaks Arizona Coyotes Franchise Points Record

With two goals and an assist Friday night in a 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames, Shane Doan became the Arizona Coyotes' all-time points leader, the team announced.

The NHL shared video of his 931st point, which is two more than Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk on the all-time list:

Doan has been with the franchise since he was 19 during the 1995-96 season. He's a two-time All-Star and scored a career-high 31 goals during the 2008-09 season. His franchise record includes 389 goals and 542 assists.

Mark McClune of CBS 5 News in Phoenix tweeted he wasn't surprised to see a good showing from the veteran:

Doan also put himself in rare company by registering another 20-goal season, per Sportsnet Stats:

The Coyotes hit the ice again Feb. 13 as Doan will look to extend his record. With 28 games left this season, he should shatter Hawerchuk's previous record, and when he does retire he will leave a mark that will be hard to duplicate.
