Zach LaVine Named MVP for 2016 USA vs. World Rising Stars Challenge

After a stellar performance in Team USA's 157-154 win over Team World in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, Zach LaVine took home the game's MVP award Friday. The young Minnesota Timberwolves star led all scorers with 30 points.

LaVine's All-Star Weekend got off to a solid start, and he will also defend his championship in the Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday. CJ Fogler of The Cauldron provided a clip of a possible sneak peek:

Not only did LaVine lead his team to victory, but he also did so while besting his Timberwolves teammate, Andrew Wiggins, who was the game's MVP last year. That alone was motivation for LaVine to want the award, per James Herbert of CBS Sports:



Wiggins scored 29 points, and New York Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis matched LaVine's 30 points for the World squad. But it wasn't enough to get the win.
