Penguins’ Sidney Crosby Closing in on 300 Career Goals

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby enters Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers needing just one more goal to reach 300 for his career, per Sportsnet Stats.

Coming off a month in which he found the back of the net five times, the 27-year-old center will have six opportunities to reach the milestone in April before the Penguins embark on yet another playoff journey.

While 25 goals through 71 games represents a bit of a down season for Crosby, he still enters Tuesday's action with an NHL-best 79 points, as his 54 assists are good for third in the league, behind only the 55 apiece accrued by Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek and Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom.

Of course, you can't reach 300 career goals by your 28th birthday with a bunch of 25-goal seasons, especially when you've dealt with has many injuries as Crosby has since entering the NHL.

Though he's arguably come to be known more for his distribution and all-around play, Sid the Kid does have six seasons with 32 or more goals on his ledger, highlighted by a 51-goal gem in 2009-10.
