Many NHL teams have lost their top stars as a result of injury and have paid dearly for them.
One that comes to mind is the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have lost forwards Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin for significant stretches this year.
However, some of the big the players are due back in the near future and should help their teams solidify their playoff spots while gearing up for a long run to the Cup.
