NHL Buzz: Are the New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs Talking Trade?

Various media outlets are reporting that the Maple Leafs and Devils may be talking. Darren Dreger of TSN reported a few days ago that the Leafs may be willing to take on some salary if the Devils included draft picks in a trade. Meanwhile other media outlets are saying that the Devils and Maple Leafs are working on a "hockey trade."

My take: I don't know if anything will come of this but if I were to guess who the Leafs would actually take, I would guess Dainius Zubrus (No chance the Leafs are getting Zach Parise or Travis Zajac, so please don't bring it up).

The Nashville Predators have re-signed defenseman Cody Franson to a two-year deal that will earn him a total of 1.6 million dollars.

My take: Nice job by the Predators management locking up another young defenseman for a while. I expect Franson to play a bigger role with the Predators this season.

Mike Heika of Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Stars are still in talks with James Neal and Matt Niskanen. He also notes that the Stars think they can get them both locked up by the start of training camp.
