Martin Brodeur Chosen as Cover Athlete for NHL ’14

The wait to find out who will be on the cover of the NHL '14 video game is over—New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur will get the nod. 

EA Sports NHL's twitter feed announced the decision:



 

According to NHL.com, the Devils star was given the cover as the result of a fan vote in which he went head to head against Columbus Blue Jackets netminder Sergei Bobrovsky in the final vote. The bracket for the front cover honor started out with 60 players from around the league. 

Last season, the Philadelphia Flyers' Claude Giroux beat out the Nashville Predators' Pekka Rinne. 

Despite an illustrious 17-season career with the Devils that includes three Stanley Cup championships and seven appearances on the NHL All-Star roster, Brodeur has never graced the cover of EA's famed hockey franchise. 



Brodeur posted a 13-9 record with 2.2 goals allowed per game and a 90.1 save percentage on the year for the Devils. Bobrovsky, the runner-up, posted a 21-11 record with 2.0 goals allowed per game and a save percentage of 93.2 percent with four shutouts.& ...
