Lightning vs. Bruins Live Blog: Instant Reactions and Analysis

On Monday afternoon the Boston Bruins skated to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning at TD Garden. They got goals from Patrice Bergeron, Daniel Paille and Jarome Iginla en route to their third consecutive victory against their new Atlantic Division rivals.

The big story out of this one is the devastating injury suffered by Tampa star Steven Stamkos as he attempted to backcheck against Dougie Hamilton on a net-drive by the Bruins' Shawn Thornton.

The diagnosis on Stamkos may not be made official for some time, but it sure did not look like a promising situation as he was stretchered off the ice.

Boston has now outscored Tampa Bay 11-1 in three meetings this season. Three of the Lightning's five losses this season have been to Boston. They are 6-1-0 against the other "upper-echelon" opponents they've faced this season besides Boston.

Tampa will have one last chance to prove it can beat the Bruins on March, 8. Until then, they can only focus on improving their defensive coverages, especially on the rush. That aspect of the game today was their major undoing.
