Bernier Reportedly Will Be Made Available on Trade Market Monday, Jan. 25 Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello has reportedly put goalie Jonathan Bernier on the trade block, according to James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail.
Mirtle added, "With James Reimer unsigned, the Leafs’ goaltending situation next season is uncertain. At this point, it appears they will either get an extension done with Reimer—who has considerable bargaining power, given his play—or turn the crease over to someone new."
Reimer has certainly been the better player this season for the Maple Leafs, so if a goalie is retained in Toronto, it seems likely it will be him.
Moving Bernier may be difficult, however, because players like Anaheim's Frederik Andersen are also thought to be available on the goalie market, according to Mirtle.
