It’s Clowe Time: San Jose Sharks Forward Is Hitting His Stride

It's easy to lose track of Ryane Clowe when he has the likes of Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley, and Patrick Marleau on the same roster. Especially since Clowe got off to such a slow start this season.

In 2008-09, Clowe scored a career-high 22 goals and 30 assists on the Sharks' second line. This season, the power forward didn't score his first goal until his 14th game of the season.

And through his first 10 games, he only managed one assist.

He and his family back in Newfoundland certainly weren't "kissing the cod" after that start.

"Kiss the cod" is a ceremony of sorts in Newfoundland where Clowe is from. But among Sharks' fans, it has become a statement that is associated with Clowe when he has success.

However, at the onset of the season, there wasn't much success to be had for Clowe.

For a second-line player and an important piece of San Jose's second powerplay unit, "Clowey's" schneid was starting to worry the Sharks' coaching staff and fans.
