Dallas Stars Show Better Effort, but Still Fall To Phoenix Coyotes

After a lackadaisical and sorry effort against the Flames the last time out, the Stars responded Sunday Night with a very good showing against the Coyotes. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Coyotes escaped with a 1-0 win. A couple of notes from the game:

For some reason, the Stars tried to go low with all their shots on Jason LaBarbera. Give the man credit for stopping all the shots, but at some point, if you're the Stars, you have to realize that you're not going to beat him low and you have to test his glove work. That was a major disappointment. Although LaBarbera was spectacular at times, the Stars could have definitely done some things better. Kari Lehtonen needs to work on controlling the rebounds he lets out. True to form, he played very well again and gave the Stars a chance to win, but at the same time, he let out a costly rebound that Kyle Turris was able to sneak past him to give Phoenix its only goal. On the whole, though, you have to give Lehtonen credit considering the amount of time Phoenix was on the power play. He came up huge at times and really gave Dallas a chance to win the game.
