Corey Crawford Recalled: With Cristobal Huet Sick, Should Blackhawks Start Him?

Cristobal Huet will not dress for Wednesday night's game in Anaheim because of the flu, and the Blackhawks have recalled Corey Crawford from Rockford. Given the issues the Blackhawks have had in net this season, should the Hawks start Crawford?

Crawford has been the top goalie prospect in the Blackhawks organization for a couple seasons now, but has found a concrete ceiling over his head with the Hawks having signed veterans Nikolai Khabibulin and Huet. He had a chance to win the backup spot in the 2009 preseason, and played as well as Antti Niemi when he got the chance, but the team selected Niemi to split starts with Huet this year.

So Crawford went back to Rockford.

He has dealt with a couple injuries this year, but has otherwise performed well. In 39 games for Rockford, Crawford is 20-14-2 with one shutout and a .905 save percentage. In seven career NHL games, Crawford is 1-2-1 with a .915 save percentage; his last NHL action came in 2007-08.
