BT’s Bold (Or Not So Bold) 2010-11 NHL Predictions: The New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are divided, but only one side really recognizes the division.

Fans of the team are clamoring for a youth movement. They see the young guys up front (Mats Zuccarello, Evgeny Grachev, and Derek Stepan) and the on the blueline (Ryan McDonagh, Mike Sauer, and Pavel Valentenko) and they get excited. They want them to see NHL time; They want them to succeed.

That's because, if the kids succeed, the Rangers will succeed.

But figuring out if management is on the same page is something the fans have been trying to figure out for a long time. Steve Eminger was brought in to add depth on defense, but he takes a spot from one of those promising rookies.

Alex Frolov was the other big name signing. If he plays like a motivated player who's really trying to figure out if the NHL is where he wants to be, then it's a good signing. If, however, he's simply killing a season and then shoving off to the KHL well...look in to your crystal ball and tell me how that turns out.

It didn't help that Katy Perry wrote a song about him either. Unless the Rangers are trying to attract Perry fans to their games. Then it might help a ...
