Breaking News: Jaroslav Halak Traded to St.Louis Blues

Jaroslav Halak, the Montreal Canadien Goaltender who almost single handily landed the Montreal club in the Stanley Cup semi-finals, has been dealt to the St.Louis Blues for Lars Eller and Ian Schultz.

Both Price and Halak are Restricted Free Agent's this off-season and will need new contracts.

Rumor had it Carey Price had more market value, but it looks like Montreal have opted for the Canadian instead of the Slovak who was vital to their Cinderella run in this year's playoffs.

After playing in Prices' shadow the past few years, last year Halak finally broke through and shared the duties during the regular season, but stellar performances late in the season won him the starting job heading into the playoffs, and he found a way to stump the President Trophy winning Capitals and Former Cup Champions Penguins in the first and second rounds respectively.

The number one in St.Louis, Chris Mason, is a free agent this year. This should mean he will be gone from St.Louis, and backup Ty Conklin can challenge Halak for the starting job.

We will now see if both goalies have what it takes to start in the NHL.
