January 3rd, 2015 by Andy Bailey Leave a reply »
The San Antonio Spurs used some stifling second-half defense to secure a 101-92 win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday at the AT&T Center.

After giving up 35 points in the first quarter, and 58 in the first half, the Spurs held the Wizards to just 34 points over the final two frames.

They used a balanced offensive attack on the other end to slowly, but surely, put the game away.

Six Spurs reached double figures, led by 19 from Cory Joseph. He and Tiago Splitter combined to shoot 15-of-18 from the field for 37 points. The duo of Patty Mills and Boris Diaw scored 29 points on 13-of-16 shooting.

The Wizards also had a balanced attack, with seven players scoring between nine and 15 points. John Wall and Bradley Beal led the team with 15 apiece.

The Wizards next game will be Monday, against the New Orleans Pelicans at 8 p.m. ET. The Spurs will get the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
