The name and the look are both iconic. The slicked back hair, the Armani suits. Pat Riley came to Miami after leaving the New York Knicks in 1995. He instantly became the face of the franchise and brought credibility and stability to a semi-floundering franchise. He immediately set about transforming the franchise into an Eastern Conference contender. Chris Rock once said "No man has led more" basketball players "to the promised land...than Coach Pat Riley. He may not get us to the mountaintop, but he'll get us to the playoffs. And that's all we want." There is little doubt that Pat Riley has definitely helped establish basketball as Miami's second most followed sport behind football. And after his latest set of moves even the Dolphins might be in danger of having their crown in South Florida stripped by the Heat.
