Otto Porter Injury: Updates on Wizards Rookie’s Hip, Likely Return Date

Washington Wizards rookie forward Otto Porter has suffered a hip injury before even making his debut for the team, according to Washington Post reporter Michael Lee via Twitter:

Otto Porter had no timetable for return from hip injury. Got hurt slipping on court during a recent pickup game. Only rode bike #wizards

— Michael Lee (@MrMichaelLee) September 28, 2013 Porter, who is out indefinitely, reportedly sustained an injury to his hip flexor when he fell hard to the court while polishing his skills in a recent offseason pickup game.

While Porter's scary fall is enough to stop hearts from beating inside the Wizards front office, the good news is that the No. 3 overall pick doesn't appear to be seriously banged up, according to the player himself via CBS Sports NBA writer Matt Moore: “It occurred recently, you know, just playing. Something just twist[ed]. But nothing major, though. I'm going to take it day by day, see how it feels.”

Unsurprisingly, head coach Randy Wittman will be patient with the rookie moving forward and plans to let Porter take his time recovering from the injury, per Moore:
