Nene Hilario Injury: Updates on Wizards Forward’s Back and Return

Washington Wizards big man Nene Hilario will not play in Tuesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a back injury.

Nene Out with Back Spasms vs. Thunder Tuesday, Nov. 10 Chris Miller of CSN reported the details of Nene's injury:



Through six games this season, Nene is averaging 6.5 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the floor. 

Nene dealt with right knee soreness and a right foot issue during the 2014-15 NBA season, but he managed to stay in the lineup for 67 games.

Marcin Gortat and Nene give the Wizards a formidable frontcourt that can create problems for opponents with their size, athleticism and high basketball IQ. As long as he's fit sooner than later, Washington shouldn't miss Nene too much for the time being.

Nene's absence offers head coach Randy Wittman a chance to experiment with smaller lineups. Strong rebounder Kris Humphries is capable of filling in for Nene at the power forward spot. DeJuan Blair and veteran Drew Gooden also figure to compete for playing time.
