NBA Stock Report: The Last Eight Playoff Teams and Where They Stand

Surprisingly, few of the teams in contention for NBA playoff spots in the 5-8 positions of either conference decided to take advantage of the NBA trading deadline. There were a few moves with Chicago sending Tyrus Thomas to Charlotte in exchange for Acie Law and Flip Murray, but for teams looking for an extra edge, it seems stability was the safest route. Regardless, this week's version of the NBA Stock Report was witness to a flurry of movement in each conference as teams began the final stretch battle for postseason seeding. The path is perilous, especially in the East where a team like the Charlotte Bobcats went from the number six seed, to the outside looking in, forced to gaze up to a surging Milwaukee Bucks team. In the West the Oklahoma City Thunder continued their impressive run as they shot to the number five seed, and are a fraction away from the number four seed Dallas Mavericks. The competitive nature of the games are increasing as the postseason draws near, and teams like the San Antonio Spurs may need to call on their experience to save their slipping season.
