NBA Free Agency: How the Dominoes Will Fall if LeBron James Goes To Chicago

When free agency officially begins Thursday, five NBA teams will journey to somewhere in Akron (presumably LeBron’s palatial estate) to make aggressive pitches to the King. Whether or not the rumors being spread by Worldwide Wes are true, Chicago is without doubt one of the most likely destinations for LeBron James. The draft-day trade that sent Kirk Hinrich to the Washington Wizards appears to have increased the Bulls chances of landing LeBron, along with another max-salary free agent, possibly Chris Bosh or Amar’e Stoudemire. Regardless of where LeBron ends up, his decision will impact the course of NBA Basketball for decades. In the more immediate future, it will have a sweeping effect on the rest of the 2010 free agent class. LeBron will most likely be heavily involved in choosing his court next season. If he wants Bosh, the five teams with the best chance of landing him will attempt to make it happen. The dominoes will begin to fall, one by one. In an era when NBA teams are finally becoming reluctant to overpay for mediocre players, a handful of franchises might be forced to do just that after striking out in the quest for James, Wade, Bosh, and Stoudemire. ...
