LeBron James on Kyrie Irving’s Cleveland Record: ‘I Don’t Mind Lending One’

March 14th, 2015 by Jake Silver Leave a reply »

It goes without saying that LeBron James is the greatest player to ever suit up for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now in his eighth season with the franchise, he holds the lion's share of franchise records.

LeBron may be the King, but his teammate Kyrie Irving stole a record from him by scoring 57 points as the Cavs downed the San Antonio Spurs 128-125 on Thursday night. LeBron's single-game high with the Miami Heat was 61, but with Cleveland it was 56, which came on March 20, 2005, vs. the Toronto Raptors.

When confronted with the news of his lost record, LeBron offered a smug quip:

Per Basketball-Reference.com, LeBron actually holds 25 Cleveland records, most of them positive.

While the King's remark is likely good-natured, it carries a clear and reasonable sentiment:

He's coming for that record.
