Why can't Jonny Flynn rack up assists?

Is it the talent around him?

I don't think so...Jonny Flynn has Al Jefferson in the post, Kevin Love in the mid-range, Ronnie Brewer on the fast break, and a bunch of other assets that have allowed Flynn to have nights where he racks up five assists or better.

Is it the triangle offense?

No way, Kevin Love racked up nine assists against the Utah Jazz.

Jonny Flynn was the sixth pick in the 2009 NBA draft, and while his upside is tremendous, it's safe to say the same for his competition: Ramon Sessions.

Ramon Sessions is a pure playmaker, an organizer, and a true floor general.

I'm convinced by watching the games and logic that Jonny Flynn should not be in the starting lineup.

What Jonny Flynn can do, however, is score the basketball, which is one thing that the Minnesota Timberwolves bench desperately needs. Ryan Gomes and Wayne Ellington have been shouldering the load. The last thing the 'Wolves need on the bench is a distributor for players that aren't going to be on the floor for long periods of time.
