Kevin Martin, Houston Rockets Soar Past Deron Williams, New Jersey Nets

Who needs Yao Ming when you have Kevin Martin, Chase Budinger and Luis Scola?

Martin scored 30 points in the Houston Rockets’ 123-108 win over the New Jersey Nets at the Toyota Center.

Coming off a 30-point performance off the bench in his last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Budinger scored 27 points to aid in the victory. Scola added 23 points.

The Nets have now lost five straight games and both games in the Deron Williams era. Williams had a double-double with 15 points—but on just 3-of-12 shooting—and a season-high 17 assists in the loss.

New Jersey has lost nine straight games to the Rockets and fall to 17-42 on the season.

This game opened with a ton of energy on both sides. The Rockets are used to playing a quick-paced game, as they’ve averaged 105.5 points per game—third in the NBA.

The Nets looked like a rejuvenated team led by Williams, who had six assists in the first five minutes of play. New Jersey also hit their first five shots from the field.
