Kevin Love Injury: Updates on Timberwolves Star’s Back and Recovery

April 5th, 2014 by Rob Goldberg Leave a reply »

The Minnesota Timberwolves will have to compete without their best player as Kevin Love is forced to sit out due to back spasms.

Although Love was set to play in his squad's game on April 5 against the Orlando Magic, the organization's Twitter account noted that he was a late scratch:

The All-Star played 45 minutes in a one-point win over the Miami Heat the day before, scoring 28 points with 11 rebounds on the road.

For the season, Love has been by far the team's most consistent contributor, ranking fourth in the NBA with 26 points per game and third with 12.6 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, the Timberwolves have struggled otherwise and remain far out of the playoff race in the Western Conference.

With Love out of the lineup, Minnesota will likely see increased playing time from rookie Gorgui Dieng, who has played extremely well lately, scoring double figures in eight of the last 11 games.

Still, the squad will likely want to see Love back in uniform as quickly as possible.
