John Wall was the first member of the Kentucky Wildcats to ever be selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft, and while he's obviously rooting for his former school, he picked a different team to win it all.
According to Michael Lee from the Washington Post, Wall had the Florida Gators winning it all in his bracket, picking his own Wildcats to lose to Wichita State in the third round. Wall claimed he didn't pick Kentucky to motivate them, saying:
I’m not the master motivator. But that’s what everybody say to me. Everybody still don’t believe me. They ask me, ‘Why did you pick them?’ That’s the reason. I’m not saying they’d go this far but those young guys knew how good they could they could be.
I want [Kentucky] to win it all, but I picked Florida. I told y’all what I did – to give them motivation!
