Jusuf Nurkic Injury: Updates on Nuggets Forward’s Knee and Recovery

Denver Nuggets center Jusuf Nurkic continues to rehab his left knee after having surgery in May for a partially torn left patella tendon.

Nurkic Won't Be Ready for Start of Regular Season Wednesday, Sept. 23 "We're going to take our time with him," general manager Tim Connelly said of Nurkic on Wednesday, per Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post. He noted that the center wouldn't be back in time for the start of the regular season and added he wouldn't "put a firm timetable on when he'll be back."

"He'll be out there when he's ready," he continued.

He did say that Nurkic was ahead of schedule in his recovery, however.

Nurkic, 21, had a strong rookie season, averaging 6.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 17.8 minutes per game. He was expected to pair with rookie Emmanuel Mudiay, along with Danilo Gallinari and Kenneth Faried, to give the Nuggets a solid core to build around this season.
