Jose Calderon Injury: Updates on Knicks Star’s Calf and Return

The New York Knicks' struggle to climb up the Eastern Conference standings will get even more difficult with star guard Jose Calderon suffering an injury to his calf on Wednesday night.

Calderon Out for Game vs. Warriors Wednesday, March 16 ESPN.com's Ian Begley reported X-rays on Calderon's calf were negative, and he was diagnosed with a sore right calf.  

After last year's injury-marred campaign in which he appeared in just 42 games for the Knicks, Calderon has had a strong return to form. The 34-year-old isn't scoring at a prolific rate but has his best shooting percentage since 2012-13. 

A key reason for Calderon's success this season has been his ability to stay healthy. He did suffer a groin injury that kept him out of a Jan. 28 game against Toronto, which was the first time he was unable to start for the Knicks.

New York does have quality depth at point guard this season to withstand an extended absence from Calderon. Langston Galloway has provided quality minutes off the bench behind Calderon, while Jerian Grant needs more playing time to hone his skills for the future. < ...
