James Harden Nutmegs Amar’e Stoudemire for a Donatas Motiejunas Layup

Sometimes you get so caught up in the depths of James Harden’s defensive struggles, you forget why he’s out there.

Then you see Harden undress the New York Knicks defense with a through-the-legs bounce pass, and you remember why this man is making over $14 million in 2014.

The Rockets' shooting guard dropped a gem of an assist Monday night against the Knicks, threading a pass through Amar’e Stoudemire’s legs for a wide-open Donatas Motiejunas layup.

It’s not a high-percentage bet, but it’s part of Harden’s expansive offensive arsenal. Of course, he needs to make plays like this mostly due to his propensity for standing motionless while the other team has the ball.
