Nelson Won't Play vs. Pacers Sunday, Jan. 17 The Denver Post's Chris Dempsey passed along the update on Nelson, who was previously listed as questionable with the injury, per BSN Denver's Harrison Wind.

Nelson's absence will rob Denver of its most proficient distributor. Talented rookie Emmanuel Mudiay averages 5.5 assists to Nelson's 5.1, but the latter doesn't turn the ball over nearly as much as the 19-year-old.

Mudiay has also struggled mightily as a shooter this season, sinking shots at just a 31.2 percent clip from the field. Although Nelson has been around 37 percent, he is the better option, so Mudiay is going to have to step up in all facets of his game to fill the void for the veteran.

Randy Foye has been more of a 2-guard but could well take on increased ball-handling duties while Nelson recovers as a means of spelling Mudiay, who hasn't lived up to his high draft billing as of yet.
