Beno Udrih Injury: Updates on Heat Guard’s Neck and Return

Miami Heat point guard Beno Udrih is nursing a neck strain ahead of Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Udrih's Neck Forces Him to Bench Sunday, Jan. 17    According to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Udrih will not be playing on Sunday night.

A timetable for a possible return has not been disclosed yet.

Because of the calf injury suffered by starting point guard Goran Dragic, Udrih, who Miami acquired in the Mario Chalmers trade in November, started the past two games for the Heat.

His last game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday was his best with the Heat. The 33-year-old recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists without committing a turnover. 

His performance on both sides of the ball drew the praise of head coach Erik Spoelstra, who spoke with Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

"He was absolutely in tune with the bench and the game plan, where we wanted the ball to go," Spoelstra said. "Very intuitive. Defensively, he’s clever. He knows how to funnel guys into the shot-blocker."
