Houston 109, Washington 103—Final

James Harden poured in 42 points and guided the Houston Rockets to a 109-103 win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at the Verizon Center.

Following a 22-8 Washington run to open the third quarter, Harden netted 15 of Houston's next 17 points.

The shooting guard's step-back jumper was borderline unstoppable throughout the win. He finished 13-of-23 from the floor, including a 5-of-9 mark from long distance. He also grabbed nine rebounds and dished seven assists.

John Wall nearly registered a triple-double, but his 26 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds weren't enough to propel the Wizards to a victory. Bradley Beal and Gary Neal combined to connect on only 2-of-13 attempts from three-point range.

Marcin Gortat tallied 18 points and 13 rebounds during his first game since returning from Poland after spending time with his ailing mother. He limited Dwight Howard to four points.
