Former NBA Star Manute Bol a Warrior On and Off The Court

Manute Bol was an amazing, dedicated, passionate, caring, tireless activist. Oh, he also played 10 years in the NBA. Standing at 7 feet, 7 inches tall, his heart was his biggest attribute.

Bol’s accomplishments could be listed as this: first in career blocks per 48 minutes, second in career blocks per game average, and fourteenth in total blocked shots.

But those statistics don’t do his life justice. His accomplishments reach far beyond the basketball court.

He spent most of his money on charity. He was a common visitor at Sudanese refugee camps. He established The Ring True Foundation. He ran a basketball school in Cairo. (Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng was one of the students.)

Manute Bol passed away this June, but his legacy lives on. The name Manute means “special blessing.” Destiny achieved.
