Former UConn standout Jeff Adrien is alleged to have taken a new Mercedes-Benz away from valet parking outside a hotel in West Hollywood, California, before subsequently going on a six-hour joy ride, according to TMZ Sports.

After returning the vehicle, Adrien was reportedly arrested for grand theft auto by LAPD and later released on $25,000 bail.

To make matters worse, the owner of the car alleged that it smelled like marijuana after the six-hour ordeal, per TMZ.

Adrien is not currently in the NBA, as the New Orleans Pelicans released him prior to the start of the 2015-16 regular season. He played in 17 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2014-15, though, and he is a five-year veteran.

He was a fringe player at the NBA level despite his collegiate success, as he averaged 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in stints with the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks and T-Wolves.

Details are not yet available regarding when Adrien will appear in court, but the situation likely doesn't bode particularly well for his NBA future.
