Clippers Reportedly Began Discussing Financial Terms With Coach Byron Scott

It appears Byron Scott has emerged as the favorite to land the Los Angeles Clippers head coaching vacancy, and according to Chris Broussard of ESPN, the organization has engaged in talks with the veteran head coach about the financial parameters of a contract.



The Clippers' head coaching search has become one of the more intriguing stories of the young NBA offseason. The team held highly publicized trade talks with the Boston Celtics that involved head coach Doc Rivers, but according to Ramona Shelburne and Marc Stein of ESPN, the Celtics have moved on. 

Broussard reports the Clippers intend to make one more run at Rivers but would like to have a candidate—presumably Scott, Lionel Hollins or Brian Shaw—who they can move to quickly if talks are once again unproductive.

It appears the frontrunner at the moment is Scott. He served as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers last season but was fired after finishing fifth in the Central Division for the third consecutive time in his three-year stint. 

Perhaps more important to the Clippers is Scott's history as the New Orleans Hornets ...
