Clippers’ Chris Paul 1st to Record 10 Assists and 8 3-Pointers in Playoff Game

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul turned in a record-setting performance in Monday's Game 1 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

According to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, he became the first player in NBA playoffs history to record 10 or more assists and eight or more three-pointers in one game.

Prior to Paul's big night, no player had recorded even seven treys in a double-digit-assist performance in the playoffs dating back to at least 1985-86.

Paul didn't score or dish out an assist until the 6:56 mark of the first quarter Monday night, yet he still finished the quarter with 17 points and three dimes as the Clippers marched out to an early 39-25 lead.

The star point guard then added five points and two more assists in the second quarter before recording another 10 points and five assists in the third. He made each of his first eight three-point attempts, missing only one midway through the third quarter.

With the Clippers holding a 104-78 lead after three quarters, Paul and most of the Clippers' other key players sat out the final frame.
