The Cleveland Cavaliers tied a single-game NBA playoff record by making 20 three-point shots in Wednesday's 107-90 win over the Detroit Pistons in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Originally set in 1996 by the Seattle SuperSonics, the Dallas Mavericks matched the record in 2011, and then the Golden State Warriors did it again last season.
Each of the previous three teams reached the NBA Finals, with only the SuperSonics failing to win a championship.
The top-seeded Cavs are well positioned to make it four out of four, as they now hold a 2-0 lead in the opening series and thus remain the clear favorites to emerge from the Eastern Conference.
Wednesday's record-tying performance from three-point range was sparked by the usual suspects, with J.R. Smith (seven), Kyrie Irving (four), Kevin Love (three) and LeBron James (two) combining for 16 of the 20 three-pointers made, while no other Cavalier converted more than one.
After struggling in a narrow Game 1 victory, Smith was the real standout Wednesday night, hitting seven of his 11 attempts from beyond the arc.
