Brook Lopez Illness: Updates on Nets Star’s Status and Return

Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez has fallen ill and will miss at least one game as he recovers.

Lopez Out vs. Pistons Saturday, March 19 According to Aaron McMann of the MLive Media Group, Willie Reed will start in Lopez's place. 

Lopez is no stranger to missing time due to injury. He appeared in just 17 games during the 2013-14 season due to a foot issue and was limited to just 44 starts in 72 games in the following year.

He ran into that same foot injury during the second week of this season, but he didn't miss any time.

Lopez is the best player on a struggling Nets team that is one of the worst in the Eastern Conference. The 7'0" center is a double-double threat night in and night out, and he leads the team in points and rebounds.


The pressure for him to produce increased even more after the team waived veteran guard Joe Johnson.

Now, Lopez will spend a few days of his new three-year, $63.49 million deal (per Spotrac) recovering while the Nets find a suitable replacement for him.
