Bradley Beal Agrees to 5-Year Contract with Wizards

The Washington Wizards and swingman Bradley Beal have agreed on a new five-year contract that will keep the restricted free agent in the nation's capital for the long term.

Beal, Wizards Agree on Max Contract Friday, July 1 Jeff Goodman of ESPN tweeted the deal is "done," citing sources. "Worth about $130 million over five years," he added. Agent Mark Bartelstein later confirmed the agreement to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Beal can't officially sign his deal until the league's moratorium is lifted July 7. And that's key because the order in which the Wizards sign their free agents will have a bearing on how the team approaches other prospective additions.

According to ESPN.com's Zach Lowe, the Wizards "can sign Beal last, keep his lower cap hold on the books and have about $30 million in space to use in between."

Furthermore, Marc Stein of ESPN noted that having Beal's deal verbally agreed upon would allow the team to "go out and try to make a deal with an Al Horford or a Ryan Anderson or a Nic Batum before making Beal's deal official."
