New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony finished Wednesday's 118-111 overtime win over the Utah Jazz with 21,793 career points, moving past Larry Bird (21,791) for sole possession of 31st place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Anthony had 30 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and two turnovers in 42 minutes Wednesday night, successfully converting 13 of his 20 field-goal attempts and all four of his free throws, though he did miss his only shot from beyond the arc.

He tied Bird on the scoring list with his team's first basket of the extra period, then moved past Bird with a pair of free throws that gave the Knicks a six-point lead with just 37 seconds remaining.

While Anthony's overall success obviously doesn't compare to Bird's, the two star forwards have actually been quite similar in terms of scoring, with Larry Legend accumulating his points in 897 career appearances (870 starts) and Anthony needing 870 games (all starts) so far.

Anthony has averaged 25.0 points per game for his career compared to Bird's 24.3, but the latter saw his scoring average suffer in the final years of his career.
