2010 NBA Draft Lottery Preview: What to Watch and When

Tonight's the night that the future changes for a few lucky NBA teams. One thousand four-digit combinations will be assigned to the 14 non-playoff teams, and at 8 p.m., an NBA official will announce which one of those 14 teams has won the rights to the No. 1 pick. They'll repeat the process for the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, and the rest of the teams will be slotted in reverse order, based on their regular season records. The New Jersey Nets enter the lottery with the highest chance to win—a 25 percent chance, by virtue of their 12-win season—but those odds mean that if the lottery runs four times, a team other than the Nets win it three of those times.
