As if playing three games in five days wasn't difficult enough, the Detroit Pistons were dealt a blow in the second quarter of Tuesday night's game against the Charlotte Hornets when center Andre Drummond was assessed a flagrant-2 foul and ejected.
According to Fox Sports Hornets, Drummond was tossed after he elbowed Hornets center Roy Hibbert in the back of the head:
Drummond entered Tuesday night looking for a bounce-back effort after he managed 10 points and eight rebounds in Detroit's 106-88 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, but his early exit halted his pursuit of redemption.
In 13 minutes, Drummond tallied three points (1-of-6 shooting), six rebounds and a block.
As far as monetary punishment is concerned, Drummond figures to be fined the league-mandated $2,000 for an ejection. He could also be forced to cough up more cash to the league office if the NBA doesn't downgrade the flagrant.
Drummond did not record a flagrant foul or ejection last season, but he racked up 10 technical fouls.
