Ian Mahinmi Injury: Updates on Pacers C’s Back and Return

The Indiana Pacers dropped Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Toronto Raptors on Monday, and they may have lost more than that, as center Ian Mahinmi suffered a back injury during his team's 98-87 defeat.

Mahinmi Is Day-to-Day Monday, April 18 Indiana head coach Frank Vogel said Mahinmi “will be listed as day-to-day,” per the Pacers. The team noted Mahinmi left Monday’s contest with a sore lower back.

Mahinmi played 22 minutes, scoring five points and grabbing five rebounds, before exiting Monday's game. He was also 0-of-6 from the field.

Fortunately for the Pacers, Game 3 is not until Thursday in Indiana, so he has some time to rest before his team takes the court again. Even though it lost Monday, Indiana stole home-court advantage by splitting the first two games in Toronto and could use its starting big man back and ready to go for the upcoming critical home contests.

Mahinmi averaged 9.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game this season, which were all career highs. His 25.6 minutes per game also set a career-high mark as he hel ...
