Anthony Davis missed two games for the New Orleans Pelicans earlier in the month and the All-Star Game while dealing with a shoulder sprain.
Although he played 38 minutes of injury-free ball against the Orlando Magic on Friday night, the shoulder became an issue again for Davis on Saturday against the Miami Heat. Bleacher Report's Ethan J. Skolnick reported that Davis aggravated the injury in the first quarter.
Shortly thereafter, the Pelicans announced that he wouldn't return to the game.
David Aldridge of TNT reported that Davis has a shoulder sprain and will undergo further testing on Sunday.
After the game, per Skolnick, Monty Williams told a disappointed Davis "Hey, you're not going off to war or sitting in the hospital with some disease."
You can't understate how much Davis has meant to New Orleans this season. He's built a strong MVP case by averaging 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
